What age should a baby be in a baby stroller?

Practical Guide to Baby Stroller Age Recommendations

1. Newborn Stage (0-6 months)

Must be fully supine: The spine is still developing and in a C-shape, so only a 180° supine bassinet or baby stroller can be used (tilts >10° may compress the airway).
Shock absorption is essential: The brain is sensitive to shocks. Large wheels and springs are needed for paved roads and speed bumps in residential areas. Avoid cheap umbrella baby strollers.

2. Sitting Transition Period (6-12 months)

Adjustable backrest is key: 100° sitting position for eating solid foods + 145° semi-reclining position for playing with toys + 170° for naps—stepless adjustment is more practical than fixed positions.
Beware of "false upright sitting": If the child is limp and tilted, it indicates insufficient backrest support (choose a model with a built-in hard backrest). Don't believe promotional pictures on net fabric.

3. Independent Exploration Period (1-2 years)

Primarily sitting but retaining reclining function: When suddenly drowsy or sick, the child still needs to lie flat. Choose a baby stroller with an adjustment range of 160° or more.
Spaciousness and Comfort: A comfortable space for children to sit comfortably in winter without feeling constricted by a thick coat, and for summer without chafing when sitting bare-legged (seat width > 30cm is ideal).

4. Older Children's Backup (2-4 years old)

Consider weight, not age: Be cautious with lightweight baby strollers for children over 15kg (frames are prone to deformation); opt for a reinforced model with a 22kg+ weight capacity.
A Pain Point for Long-Legged Children: Short footrests can cause leg numbness due to dangling. Choose a baby stroller with extendable footrests or add an extension board (available on Taobao for around 30 RMB).

5. Three Signs to Stop Using a baby stroller:

Child Resists Sitting in the baby stroller: Crying, kicking, and trying to escape; forcing the child into a seat poses a risk of falling.
Exceeding Physical Limits: Headrest pressed against the sunshade, seatbelt digging into the stomach, knees pressing against the front bumper (curling up affects hip joints).
Significant baby stroller Instability: The baby stroller wobbles when the child is sitting upright, tends to tip over uphill, and the brake slip distance increases.
